Bridging digital and traditional media, Alex Crookshanks presents a his view of the world with an air of duality by layering images, emotions, text, and reflections that both visually appeals to the viewer yet challenges the viewer to look deeper than the surface.
Alex's work has may layers to it - both digitally and physically. By using reflective and translucent layers, he invites the viewer to become a part of the piece as their image is reflected into the work. New images and messages appear as the viewer experiences each piece from a different angle.
Most of Alex's work is created digitally and other times traditionally. Once a piece has begun it's creation journey, either digitally or traditionally on canvas, he then layers on translucent elements, text, and other up-cycled items to provide the viewer with images covering all aspects of emotion and beauty.
